The ISA Toronto Section was formed in 1948 by a group of engineers working in the field of Instrumentation. Their purpose was to unite the various companies and manufacturers to create an environment where the practitioners of the field had an avenue to learn about products, services and the ever changing technology.
ISA Toronto is part of a larger organization known as the International Society of Automation (formerly known as the Instrument Society of America) that has been active since 1945. The ISA (www.isa.org) is a leading, global, nonprofit organization that is setting the standard for automation by helping over 30,000 worldwide members and other professionals solve difficult technical problems, while enhancing their leadership and personal career capabilities.
Based in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina, USA, the ISA develops standards; certifies industry professionals; provides education and training; publishes books and technical articles; and hosts the largest conference and exhibition for automation professionals in the Western Hemisphere.
